Microsoft Power Platform training
The hard part is not learning the Power Platform. It is working out which bit of it you need.
Excel is a ladder. You start at the bottom and climb. The Power Platform is not a ladder, it is a grid, and that is the entire reason people find our course list bewildering. There are four products you might need, and three quite different depths you might need to go to in any of them, and the names give almost nothing away. PL-900, PL-7002 and PL-500 all touch Power Automate. They are one day, one day and four days respectively, and they are for three completely different people.
So we have stopped opening this page with a catalogue. The question that actually matters is what you want to be able to do on the Monday after the course, and whether you need a credential to prove it. Answer those two and there is almost always exactly one right course, which is what the check below is for.
What do you want to build?
Two questions. Nothing is sent anywhere, there is no email address to give and no results page to wait for. The answer appears underneath as soon as you have picked one option from each.
Tell us the outcome, then the depth
We ask about the outcome first because that is the bit people are clear on. Almost everybody knows they want an app the engineers can use on site, or the approvals to stop living in their inbox. Very few people arrive knowing whether that is PL-7001 or PL-200.
Every Power Platform course, in three groups
The groups are the three depths from the check above. One course to understand the platform, the one-day Applied Skills courses that each leave you with a working thing and a Microsoft credential, and the full certifications for people whose job this is becoming. Plus a masterclass for anyone who wants the practical days without a Microsoft code attached.
Start here
PL-900: Introduction to Microsoft Power Platform
One day to stop nodding along in meetings about the Power Platform. You leave able to say which part of it solves which problem, and why, with a Microsoft certification to sit and the voucher already paid for. The labs are guided simulations, so there is nothing to install and no licence to buy.
- What each part of the platform is for, and where the boundaries sit
- Dataverse tables, columns and relationships, and what they give you that a spreadsheet does not
- Environments, security roles and data loss prevention policies
- Canvas apps and model-driven apps, and how to pick the right one
- Cloud flows, desktop flows, and where automation actually pays
- Copilot Studio agents, new in July 2026 and now a quarter of the exam
Build one thing properly
Microsoft Applied Skills are the credential most people have never heard of and most people should be buying. One focused day, one narrow skill, assessed by building the thing in a live lab rather than by answering questions about it. You leave with a working app, flow or agent and a credential on your Microsoft profile. One for each product.
PL-7001: Create and Manage Canvas Apps
One day to turn the spreadsheet everybody dreads into an app people will actually open. Screens, the data behind them, forms that save properly and a published app at the end, built by you rather than demonstrated at you.
- Screens, galleries and navigation that behave
- Connecting to SharePoint, Dataverse, Excel and SQL
- Forms that validate, and save the record properly
- Power Fx formulas, which work much as Excel's do
- Publishing, sharing, and rolling back a bad release
PL-7002: Create and Manage Automated Processes
The process works. It just needs three people to remember it, and one of them is you. A day to hand that over to Power Automate: triggers that fire on their own, approvals that chase themselves, and notifications that go out whether or not you are at your desk.
- Triggers that fire on a schedule, on a change in your data, or on somebody pressing a button
- Approvals, including what happens down the reject path
- Conditions, switches and parallel branches, so the flow makes the decision
- Dataverse tables and relationships for the data underneath it
- Trigger filters, so a flow runs when it should rather than forty times an hour
- Owners, sharing, and finding out why a flow failed at two in the morning
PL-7008: Create Agents in Copilot Studio
You build agents, several of them, and ground them in real content so they answer from what you gave them rather than improvising. Then you put a workflow behind the part that has to run the same way every time, and publish to Microsoft Teams. It is the day that turns having an opinion about agents into having one that works.
- Building an agent four ways, including describing it in plain English and letting Copilot draft it
- Instructions that hold, covering scope, tone and what the agent does when it is unsure
- Knowledge sources, and deciding what a given agent should and should not be allowed to see
- Topics, for the conversations that have to run the same way every time
- Workflows added as tools, so the agent can act in other systems rather than only answer
- Publishing to Teams, and what Copilot Credits actually cost once it is live
Make this your job
The full associate and expert certifications. Four or five consecutive days, the official Microsoft curriculum, and an exam voucher included so the credential is within reach rather than theoretically available. These are career courses. Do not book one because a colleague suggested Power Apps might be useful.
Applied Skills or a full certification?
This is the single question we are asked most about the Power Platform, and the one the course names answer worst. Both are Microsoft credentials. They are not competing versions of the same thing, they are answers to different questions, and the difference is worth two minutes of your time before you spend either £395 or five days.
| What is being compared | PL-900 Fundamentals | PL-70xx Applied Skills | AB-410, AB-620, PL-400 Certification |
|---|---|---|---|

| Scope | Wide and shallow, all four products | Narrow and deep, one product | Wide and deep, a whole role |
| Prerequisites | None | None on most of them | Real experience expected |
| Exam voucher in the price | Yes | Not applicable, assessed in the lab | Yes |
| What you leave with | A vocabulary and a certification | A working app, flow or agent | A role-level credential |
| Recognised by employers | Widely, as an entry credential | Growing, and specific enough to be checkable | Yes, this is the currency |

If you only remember one line of this table, make it this one. Applied Skills are assessed by building the thing, in a live environment, which is why a one-day Applied Skills credential is often more convincing to a hiring manager than a wider certification earned by answering questions. If you want the job title, take the certification. If you want the thing built by Friday, take the Applied Skills day. Ask us if you are genuinely torn, and say what your reason for doing it is, because that is what decides it.

Four products, and the one underneath them
Worth knowing before you book, because the product decides the course. Power Pages and Dataverse are part of the family too, and Dataverse is the one people discover late and wish they had understood first.
Power Apps
Applications without a development team. Canvas apps for something quick and mobile-shaped, model-driven apps for something a department depends on. The most common first project, and the easiest to build badly.
Power Automate
Processes that run without anybody remembering to run them. Cloud flows for anything with a modern connector, desktop flows for the systems that have none. Usually the fastest measurable return on the platform.
Power BI
Reports and dashboards that refresh themselves. Part of the platform, but a large enough subject that it has its own hub, its own courses and its own trainers rather than a paragraph here.
Copilot Studio
Agents and chatbots grounded in your own content, in Teams or on your website. Formerly Power Virtual Agents, and still called that in a lot of older training material, ours included until recently.
Four ways to take any of the three
Same trainer, same courseware and the same exercise files whichever you choose. Roughly half of every day is you working in Excel rather than watching somebody else work in Excel.
Online
Live with a real trainer and a small group, scheduled regularly through the year. Bring a second screen, or a separate device to watch on, so you can follow the trainer and work in your own workbook at the same time.
£249 per person, excl. VAT
In person
Small cohorts at our UK venues on machines already set up and ready, which suits anyone who would rather not wrestle with their own laptop while learning something new.
From £299, by venue
Onsite or private
At your offices or private virtual, on your own version of Excel and, if you want, your own spreadsheets as the examples. Getting a team into the same habits on one day stops five versions of the same report appearing every month.
Quoted, best value from four
Self-paced
On-demand modules to work through in your own time, for people who cannot give up a whole day or who want to revisit the material afterwards. Register your interest, and we will let you know when it goes live.

Training a team? All three courses run onsite at your location, on your version of Excel, and can be scheduled on consecutive days for mixed-ability groups.
Cannot see a date that works? We run all three on request, and private courses can usually be scheduled within a fortnight.
What you get that you will not get everywhere
Small groups, real practice
Half the day is you in Excel, not watching a screen share. Beginner Excel is a doing skill, and it does not transfer from watching.
Trainers who use it for real
Our trainers spend the rest of the week building and fixing spreadsheets for clients. When you ask why yours is broken, you get an answer from experience.
Real prices, published
Every course shows its price and what is included. No “contact us for pricing”, no surprises.
We say when not to book
If you are past this level, we will move you to Intermediate rather than take your money for a day you will find slow.
Teams we have trained
Not sure which course, or training a whole team?
These are the two conversations we have most often about the Power Platform. One is somebody working out whether they need the one-day Applied Skills course or the four-day certification. The other is somebody with a team and a project, asking what a private course would look like.
Both start the same way. Tell us what you are trying to build and a trainer will come back to you, usually the same working day.
If a cheaper course is the right one, we will say so. If the honest answer is that you should have this built rather than learn to build it, we will say that as well.
